Hello, Daphne here! I am a dancing queen. Young and sweet. Only 17. I’m Taiwanese-American, and I can speak enough Mandarin Chinese to hold up a conversation with my parents but I’ve never been able to read or write it. I’m currently taking high school level Japanese, but I think I want to study French in college. My current plan is to major in Art History, minor in Museum Studies/Communications/Anthropology (I’ll decide along the way), and take French as a language. I’d like to work in a museum someday.
Whenever we play icebreaker games where I’m supposed to give one fact about myself, my go-to fact is that I’ve played 7 instruments (piano, flute, piccolo, euphonium, baritone, trombone, ukulele). It sounds impressive but I’ve really only been proficient in two of them.

To the curious prospies: I applied ED to Barnard College (decisions come out in mid-December wish me luck!). I go to a semi-competitive high school in Bergen County, New Jersey. Instead of playing sports in high school, I was Field Captain and Low Brass section leader in the marching band, head stage manager of the musicals, Editor-in-Chief of the yearbook, officer/president of Japanese Club, secretary of Tri-M Music Honor Society, PR for GSA, and I did all the graphic design work for all of the clubs I was in. I am also part of the National Honor Society and the Japanese National Society, and I was recently selected to be part of a committee of students that is going to rebrand our school district. I picked up the trombone for Jazz Band since I play euphonium in Wind Symphony. I’m currently taking 5 AP classes (AP Calculus AB, AP Physics, AP Lit, AP Japanese, and AP Art History) and Wind Symphony III. Stats: SAT 2200, ACT 32, GPA 4.28
To the rest of tumblr: Tina Fey is my queen. Liz Lemon is my spirit animal. I’m constantly falling in love with or wanting to be fictional characters. I’ve met some of my best friends through our mutual love of Doctor Who. I watch too much television, and too much YouTube. Sometimes movies make me cry. A lot (see: Never Let Me Go). I own too many books and I’m afraid I’ll never have the chance to read them all. I think nerdfighters are the best thing that ever happened to the internet. The one time I met John and Hank Green I was so caught in the moment that I forgot to take photos while I was waiting to get my copy of TFiOS signed.
A few of my favorite things: fashion,Muse, Doctor Who, 30 Rock, The Arctic Monkeys, masala chai, kittens, Aritzia, Sleep No More, ugly sweaters, nerdfighteria, stage managing, buying books (and then never having the time to read them), graphic design, NYC, Blair Waldorf, Never Let Me Go, art history, Macbeth, when my makeup is on point, etc.
*whispers* We’re gonna be best friends.Reblog
